A bourbon tasting benefits Mount Washington Pediatric Hospital - Baltimore Sun

A bourbon tasting benefits Mount Washington Pediatric Hospital - Baltimore Sun: "No one was offended by that logic, least of all Paula Bragg, director of philanthropy for the nonprofit Mount Washington Pediatric Hospital, which was the beneficiary of the $25-per-person bourbon tasting, with all proceeds earmarked for the hospital.

It's not unusual to find Mount Washington Tavern raising money for the hospital or providing food for hospital events. In fact, it's been common for more than two decades, say Bragg and Rob Frisch, co-owner of the popular restaurant with Dave Lichty since 2006."

Guest post: ethical banking – delivering on Islamic finance’s charitable responsibilities | beyondbrics

Guest post: ethical banking – delivering on Islamic finance’s charitable responsibilities | beyondbrics: "With the industry going from strength to strength, it is incumbent upon us, as Islamic financiers, to consider how the industry can evolve to provide a wider range of products and services, while remaining true to a central pillar of Islamic finance, and Islam itself: charitable giving.

To sustain the growth of the industry we must consider how to effect real change, particularly in areas where we have the opportunity to better the lives of those who need help most. We have the knowledge and expertise to manage and grow wealth, so why not use it as a force for good?"

Strategies: Seth Godin goads businesses, individuals to take initiative - Denver Business Journal

Strategies: Seth Godin goads businesses, individuals to take initiative - Denver Business Journal: "homas Edison famously said, "I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work." Those words echoed during a review of popular author, blogger and speaker Seth Godin's book, "Poke the Box."

He stresses the importance of taking the initiative to start something, pointing out, "Poke the Box is a manifesto about producing something that's scarce, and thus valuable. It demands that you stop waiting for a road map and start drawing one instead."

Okay, this a common call to action. We've all heard it in some form. What is unusual about Godin's version is his acknowledgment that taking initiative doesn't have to equate to grandiose outcomes. As long as there is follow-through on the process, results can be modest to be meaningful."

Case for Support

The basis of fundraising is the organization’s case for support. It is an internal document whose purpose is to state the cause and all the reasons why prospective donors might want to contribute to its advancement. The case is driven by the mission and strategic plan of the organization.
